Within a 10 minute drive from the city, you can be walking through the beautiful gardens of the famous wine estate and sipping on complimentary wine during a wine tasting session at the Cellar Door. It's no wonder a visit to Josef Chromy Winery is one of the top things to do in Launceston.

Very pleasant wine tasting and 2 course lunch with more wine at Josef Chromy's beautiful winery and restaurant.
The wine tasting consisted of generous tastes of 4 wines they had chosen (sparkling, pinot gris, premium 2013 chardonnay and pinot noir). I enjoyed all the wines, particularly the pinot noir and the sparkling. I'm not a pinot gris fan, so would have chosen an alternative if it were offered. However, all the staff were very attentive and pleasant. The wine tasting area and restaurant a beautiful with great views of their beautiful property and the surrounds. Then onto a 2-course lunch. There was lots of choices but I chose oysters with a glass of their regular chardonnay a well as a scotch fillet with a glass of pinot noir. The food was well presented and tasted even better. Conscious of the wine I had consumed, I took a leisurely walk around the surrounds before driving a short distance to my accommodation in central Launceston. All very enjoyable.
